HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

If you are a customer or an employee, we are required by law, to hold your personal information for 6 years from the end of our contract.  If your job application has been unsuccessful, we will hold the information for 6 months unless you request us to delete the information earlier.

WHERE WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We limit access to your personal information to certain people processing it who do so only in an authorised manner. They are subject to a duty of confidentiality. We have a secure server that is backed up daily.  Whilst we do our best to keep your personal data safe, the use of the internet is widely acknowledged that it is not entirely secure and for this reason we cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal data that is transferred from or to you via the internet. As our website contains links to third party websites owned and operated by other people and businesses, we recommend that you review their privacy and cookie policies before providing them with any personal information.

The information you provide to us may be collected by the following means:
By phone, face-to-face in the office, via email communication, by cctv at the office and/or by using cookies*.

How, when and why we collect information that you provide:

  1. When you make an enquiry for us to supply products and services, we collect your name, company name, address, email address, phone numbers.   This enables processing and follow up of enquiries, monitoring the quality of our service and compliance with legislation.
  2. When applying for a job with us or work for us for any period of time, we collect contact details, financial and payment details, details of education, qualifications and skills, marital status, nationality, NI number, job title, and CV.  This enables us to process a job application, administrate the employment relationship, including making payments, accounting for tax, ensuring safe working practices, monitoring and managing staff access to systems and facilities, monitoring absences and performance and conducting assessments. we will take copies of documents that identify you so that we can comply with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing requirements.
  3. When visiting our website, we collect IP addresses using cookies.  This is to improve the visitor’s experience of the website, customisation of our website and its content to your particular preferences; improve our services and detect and prevent fraud.

Who we may share this information with:
Service providers under contract with us to support our business operations such as fraud prevention, debt collection, payroll, technology services, our insurers, trade associations, law enforcement or government agencies, any person who you have named as a person we can contact, other companies within our group.

If you provide us the details of a person who we can contact for a job reference, we may contact that person in connection with your job application.

Sensitive personal information

Sensitive personal information can include details pertaining to your ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, physical or mental health, sexual orientation and participation in criminal activity. We do not collect your sensitive personal information.

Children

DISC Electrical does not knowingly collect personal data relating to children under the age of 16. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 16 and think that we may have information relating to that child, please contact us. We will ask you to prove your relationship to the child but if you do so you may (subject to applicable law) request access to and deletion of that child’s personal data.

In order to improve your experience of using our website, we collect personal information using cookies.   A cookie is a small text file which is placed onto your computer’s hard drive (or other electronic device such as a mobile telephone or tablet) when you use our website. We use cookies to look at IP addresses, operating systems and browser types being used.  We also use cookies to improve your experience as a visitor by for example, speeding up searches and recognising you when you return.  They can help us recognise and analyse the number of visitors to the website and how they are using it which is helpful for customisation purposes.

However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances. We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
